Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi was born on March 21, 1923 to a Christian family in the Indian state of Maharastra. She was born with Her Self-Realization and knew from a young age that She had a unique gift which had to be made available to all people.
As a young woman, Shri Mataji was a youth leader in the movement for the independence of India. She lived in the ashram of Mahatma Gandhi who often consulted Her on spiritual questions. Shri Mataji is married to Sir C.P.Shrivastava, retired Secretary General of the U.N.Maritime Organization. She is mother and a grandmother. Shri Mataji has spent Her life working for peace on every level, and the effectiveness of Her teaching is acknowledged Worldwide. Through Her understanding of the subtle nature of human beings, and Her study of Western medicine, She has discovered a simple method through which all people can receive their Self-Realization. Shri Mataji's desire is to share Her spiritual knowledge. She has never charged money for Sahaja Yoga instruction. |
